WEEKLY UPDATE 24/7 - 60S & 70S SOUl!

After last week's Impulse! Jazz-update we stay in the same era, but turn to Soul instead.
Plenty of office favourites (Family Circle, Moments, Optimistics, James Carr, Candi Staton, Willie Hutch, O.V. Wright - the list goes on), a very healthy batch of 7"s and the total count of records up for sale this week should satisfy many mouths!

We still have crates of 10 kr records in store, but we just freshened up our 7" sale stock to a nice bunch of 60s/70s/80s Soul, Funk and R&B. These are 30 kr a piece or 4 for 100 kr, and well worth it (many of them would be suitable to sell online, but due to time issues we choose to mix it up like this from time to time).

Check the pictures below for examples of the rarer stuff or see all of this week's new arrivals in our New In Stock section

RECOMMENDATIONS

RON SHY - DON'T YOU KNOW

Tremendous midtempo modern soul, here in a different version than on the very rare Little Star 45. This one (previously unissued) has a slicker vibe and added backing vocals.

PUCCIO ROELENS - RESEARCH OF SOUND

Very sought-after and consistent Italian library album with a sound no too far from Stefano Torossi's "Feelings" (no wonder as Puccio Roelens in fact composed some of the tunes on "Feelings").

MATTHEW HALSALL & THE GONDWANA ORCHESTRA - WHEN THE WORLD WAS ONE

Exceptional UK jazz from 2014, deep and spiritual sounds with echoes of Coltrane (both John and Alice!) and classic European jazz! Listen to "Patterns and "A far away place". Recommended!

PAT THOMAS & KWASHIBU AREA BAND - SAME

Very strong new album from one of Ghana's finest singers, aided by a terrific band that provides a jazzy backing.

PIERO UMILIANI - IL CORPO

Another amazing soundtrack from master Umiliani with pretty much the same moody jazz/funk/lounge-sound as its predecessor "La Ragazza Fuoristrada", check the funky "Hard Times", "Chaser" and the second version of "Princess". Limited edition reissue including CD (original press is ultra rare).

GINGER JOHNSON & HIS AFRICAN MESSENGERS - AFRICAN PARTY

Jazzy Afro-tropical sound with smattering percussion, just lovely music. Listen to "I jool omo" and "Talking drum". Reissue of 1967 original.

PIERO PICCIONI - COLPO ROVENTE

Absolutely brilliant Italian soundtrack with a very moody and jazzy sound, certainly one of Mr. Piccioni's best! Very consistent yet diverse album mixing dynamic big band sounds with downtempo psych jazz and beautiful romantic scores.

ROYAL JESTERS - ENGLISH OLDIES

Stupendous sweet & northern soul from this legendary San Antonio group. Lots of top tunes with personal picks in "I won't love you again" (as Dimas III) and front man Joe Jama's monster northern track "My life"!

REALITY BAND & SHOW / WANDA MCDANIEL & THE ULTIMATE CHOICE - GANGSTER BOY

One of the most desired 70s soul records out there, and an outstanding piece of music. Killer midpaced groove with a funky edge and on-point vocal delivery. Reissue of ultra rarity on the Appleray label.

AMANAZ - AFRICA

A total monster Zamrock LP from the same time as "Lazy Bones" by Witch, here on a 2xLP release with both versions - one "regular" (maybe not so regular) mix and one reverb-drenched, fuzzed out version. Sounds like two different albums, but both great.

MULATU ASTATKE FEATURING FEKADE AMDE MASKAL - ETHIO JAZZ / 180 GRAM

Ethiopian musician Mulatu Astatke did some incredible laidback funky jazz in the late 60's and early 70's. This album is superb from start to end with a unique sound -listen to "Netsanet", "Yekatit" or "Yekermo sew" and see for yourself. 5 star recommendation! 180 gram reissue of ultra rare original.
