It may be 300 % Rotary Connection, but nonetheless this is great music from a group that has survived so many trends and changes in sound. Remixes come from Daddy G, Landau Orch and a drum & bass effort from L.A.O.S. but it's all about the blissful original.
"Bluesanova" is an immediate floor shaking tune that mix lovely 60's jazz a' la Sahib Shihab with Bilal's "Love it". "Save deir soulz" is in a funkier style with Musiq Soulchild's voice. Perfect harmony of jazz and soul!
Truly killer remake of Sons of the Kingdoms gospel boogie winner "Modernization" but also the great Brazilian track "Bahia".

7 Samurai ep with raw killer reggae rhythms and with smooth vocals by a horny guy from Minneapolis that sounds fresher than he has done for twenty years. Also with Amel Larrieaux and Q-Tip. All these works great in clubs!
Wonderful broken soul EP with standout tunes in "M.U.S.I.C." & "U know like #". Done by one part of German leftfield jazzers Slope & features the talented Clara Hill & Alex Barck from Jazzanova behind the boards.
Great 5 track EP with soulful broken beat inspired numbers. "Hope is on the way" is a wicked club tune! The softer tracks are also really nice.
Tight spiritual jazz with lovely vocals & a slight free jazz edge. Both sides are top class if you're into Strata East, Tribe records etc.

Double LP/12" including the epic 2 new versions of the epic "Blacker". The rest ranges from laidback beats to dancefloor friendly cuts with a healthy dose of classic samples - try "Divine fact" for starters. Not so easy to find these days.
A sample-heavy trip through black music heritage courtesy of Ashley Beedle & co. Includes the huge "Blacker". Price reduced due to plenty of marks, plays alright.
Great clubby bossa tune from Patrick Forge's group, seldom seen 12 from 1993.
Steaming hot offering from the Beatconductor and to my mind one of his best yet! Terrific edit of a steelband version of Ralph McDonald's "The path", flipped with Alan Parson's midtempo disco chugger and a re-edit of an african vocal funk number.
Good soulful house remix of Beatfanatic's "Deep love" track on side A, flip over for a even better collage track called "African love" that uses Bobbi Humphrey, Fela Kuti & Labi Siffre. Bloody nice jazzy afro disco tune for the clubs. Big tip!
As the title indicates the music is influenced by all corners of the world but aiming at a modern dancefloor. Check the version of "Broken descarga", "Lagos betphreak" or "African rockers". Great & extremly useful stuff for retro dj's.
A side is an update of the perennial Stevie Wonder classic, slight beefed up and extended for your dancefloor pleasure. Flip for a sweet jazz-funky instrumental with Roman Andren working away on the keys.
Good tune from 2002.
The original mix of "So good today" is a choice cut - a free mix of soul, jazz and a few other bits that just works. Flip for raw Domu mixes, plus you get the intense soundscape "Beauty". On Gilles Peterson's Brownswood label.
Classic jazz beat tune in the Truby Trio remix that uses Tony Allen's "Road close".
Drum & bass with a cute pop melody to fit the XL label. Nice crossover potential here.
Beautiful modern jazz album that should be interesting even for non-hardcore jazz heads. Spiritual folk jazz they call it on the sleeve and I agree, Pharoah Sanders meets Terry Callier, and Dwight Trible's voice just kills it. Try "Healing song" (yes, that one) or "Love, sweet like sugar cane" for a taste. Respect to Kindred Spirits for putting this out.
Early 90s jazz beats on UK issue.
Excellent LP taking funk as a springboard for excursions in afro, hip hop, house etc, all with a fresh feel. Try "Freshly squeezed", "Get with it" or the aptly titled "Vinyl junkie" for a start. Proper album for both Saturday night and Sunday morning.
7 track EP on Lars Berger's prolific Swedish Brandy. Essentially hip hop with a jazzy boom-bap vibe, plus a couple of atmospheric instrumental excursions that work really well. Quality all the way but check "State of mind" for play-out potential or "Astro dancin'" for mind expansion.
Awesome version of Gary Bartz soul/jazz classic "I've known rivers". B side condition is a nightmare with a deep scratch running all the through but the A side is the main thing and that's fine.
Cosmic funky instrumental music in similar style to Yesterdays New Quintet. Nice laidback 5 track EP althrough with a particular highlight in "Continental drift". Sweet!
4 track comp with remixes of D Note material. You get a Tenaglia dub of "Lost & found" but my pick is the dancefloor soul in Mantronix mix of "Say what you mean". Also feat. 4Hero d&b style take on "Waiting hopefully".
Great club tune which fuses the lovely music by reggae legend Ernest Ranglin with your favorite MC's Q-Tip and Mos Def. Nice vibe but still with enough groove to be a good party tune. Flip is a funky d&b workout of the same tune which rocks big time.

"Bronx tale" wicked latin/jazz. In same style as Dave Pike's classic 60's recordings and equally good.

Nice laidback Kenny Dope mixes in a jazz-hop style.

New Swedish Brandy 4 tracker ranging from instrumental funk tracks to more uptempo club sounds. All tracks nice, "Overthrowed" gets the prize though with an updated afrobeat feel.
Good & deep electronic soul tune in the Amp fiddler mix, also check the uptempo "Amp & genesis" mix on the flip.
Killer beats from these pioneers. Indemand!
Original US copy with LP version & Gab mix of the beautiful & relaxed "Midnight...", LP & Cut Chemist mixes of "The number song" plus "Red bus needs to leave".
This is for me one of the best G.a.m.m. releases so far with "Rainha do dub" being based at Djavan's "Neceri" but with some added reggae groove that will make this an immediate floorfiller. Both other tunes are killer Brasilian funk tunes with an charming twist. Amazing mix of reggae and Brasilian at all tracks here.

Should maybe go in the reggae section but falls between many categories with good times as the common denominator. Reggaefied versions of "Move on up", Brothers on the slide", "7 nation army" etc. Filled to the brim with crossover potential.
Jazzbeat house sampling "Send in the clowns", works nicely in a Mr Scruff way.
Killer soul/jazz release from one on of the 90's most important labels. From 1993 and only the sixth release at Mo Wax.
Beautiful 4 tracker from the man Freddie, some of his best work to date. ADL & Linn do vocals on the title track (chilled golden era-style hip hop/soul), but the big one for me is "Keep striving", a laidback soul groove with vocal samples coming in & out.
Steaming hot fusion of Sabu Martinez tough percussion with Sahib Shihab's jazz dance classic "Seeds". Big tune for the jazz oriented dj's!
Driving latin jazz from one of Italy's most prolific.
White label promo feat. Peshay's rough remix of the defining drum&bass moment that is "Inner city life", flipped with original version of the atmospheric "Sea of tears".
Really sweet broken soul track with a deep vibe. Very very cheap, very very good.
Funky breakbeat EP with some electronic influences.
Slick jazzy album with house leanings. "Keep you kimi" and "I love you my hope" get my vote.
Yep, it's a brass band version of Marvin's "Sexual healing"! 8.52 long with a vocal break in the middle, plus a shorter edit and bonus track "It's real".
The laidback original is here of course, but my pick would be Jazzanova's jazzy boogie take that stands up well today, plus a similar Swag remix that sounds good too. Small tear on back of sleeve.
Promo of this 12 with the magnificent rainforest-like hypnosis that is Carl Craig's mix. Quite a few marks but only light so plays well.
Freaky sitar funk version of Dave Pike's classic original. Party rocker indeed. A bit of marks resulting in light clicks on one of the less important mixes.
